Eventually, the weight of the sediments will compress the sediments at the
bottom, squashing out the water and cementing the pieces of rock together.
This process could occur over millions of years. Sedimentary rocks often
contain fossils due to the amount of time it take smaking them – this could be
skeletons of small animals, plants or shells.
The grain of sedimentary rock is mostly rounded – this is due to erosion of
sharp edges over time.

chalk, limestone, sandstone and gypsum.
