Abstract nouns


Definition

An abstract noun is used to describe something which is an idea, quality

or state. Abstract nouns cannot be detected using the 5 senses.

 

Example

Adam and Sarah were so excited to start the new school year!

Explanation

The word ‘excited’ is used to describe a feeling. We cannot sense, or see

an ‘excited’. Due to this the noun is abstract.
