Adverbs


Definition :

Adverbs can be used in different ways. They can be used to describe time,

manner and place. Adverbs can be classified as how, when and where.

 

Example & Explanation :

He suspiciously opened the door.

‘Suspiciously’ describes a manner, i.e. how the door was opened. It’s a far

walk to the supermarket.

 

‘Far’ describes a place, i.e. the location of the supermarket.

They never worked hard until the exams arrived.

‘Never’ describes when, i.e. the time when they revised before exams.
