Definition

A proper noun is a type of noun. It is used to name a person, place

or dates. Proper nouns will always have a capital letter.

 

Example

My teacher is called Mr Smith.

He was born in London.

His birthday is going to be on the first Monday in March.

Explanation

Mr Smith has a capital letter because it is the name of a person.

The name of any person will begin with a capital letter.
