ENGLISH – WRITING AN INFORMAL LETTER – GCSE


Learning Objective: To understand what an informal letter is, what they

                                        are used for and how to create one successfully.

 

What is an Informal Letter? What are they used for?

 

1. An informal letter is a letter that is written for a informal, everyday reason.

They are usually addressed to people that you know, a family member,

other relative or friend.

 

2. They are often written to say thank you, ask/offer for information, extend

an invitation, congratulatesympathise and other similar reasons.

 

3. When you write informal letters you must remember that there are rules of 

presentation. You should always include, dates, names and salutations and

where appropriate you can include addresses. Remember to lay it out in 

organised paragraphs as well.
