Improve Tuition began in 2007, after years of encouragement from my mum, who kept telling me I should consider tutoring. I was unsure at first. But when I finally started, the results surprised me — the children I worked with passed their grammar school entrance exams, and that happened five years in a row.

For a long time, I thought it was luck. By the fifth year, I realised there was something in the way I explained things that helped children who had been struggling.

As more families came to us, I began carefully recruiting tutors — learning to recognise people who could explain clearly, work responsibly and support children properly, not just people with subject knowledge.

That is how Improve Tuition grew: not as a tutor marketplace, but as a structured, teacher-led service built around one principle. That principle has not changed in eighteen years.
