- A push or a pull force is felt when two objects interact
- An actual force can’t be seen, only its effects can be seen.
- Measured in NEWTONS, N. A newton meter can be used to measure forces.
- Act in pairs in a certain direction
Forces can make objects do 5 things:
1. Speed up / start moving – push force must be larger than resisting forces.
2. Slow down / stop moving – drag or air resistance.
3. Change direction.
4. Turn.
5. Change shape – stretching and compressing, bending and twisting.
- Balanced forces produce no change in movement.
- Unbalanced forces change the speed / direction of the moving objects.
