Generating Electricity
The different ways of generating electricity:
Most electricity generated by burning fossil fuels.
Energy resources (above)
Generating electricity turns a turbine and a generator which then transfers the energy in kinetic stores electrically
There are two types of energy resources: RENEWABLE AND NON-RENEWABLE.
1. NON-RENEWABALE. They take millions of years to form and once they’ve been burned they are gone. They are finite which means there is a limited supply. They will run out one day. We need to reduce fossil fuel usage by:
Save energy at home and on a day to day basis
Recycle
Use renewable energy resources
2. RENEWABLE. These sources will not run out. If the sun is still there the wind will blow to turn turbines, plants will grow which can be burnt, waves will drive generators and solar cells will use light to make electricity. These are RENEWABLEinfinite as can be reused numerously. However, non-renewable resources aren’t readily available.
