The Cost of Electricity
- If something needs electricity to work, it is an electrical appliance.
- Energy can be measured in Joules J, Kilojoules kJ, or kilowatt-hours kWh.
- Power = how fast something transfers energy. Measured in watts W or kilowatts kW.
- 1kW=1000w
- Energy transferred (J) = Power (w) x Time (s)
- Energy transferred (kWh) = Power (kW) x Time (h)
- Electric metres – record amount of energy transferred in kWh over different periods of time.
- Cost = Energy Transferred (kWh) x Price per kWh
